Exposing Scams/Fraud in Our Community
Delve into the various methods used by criminals to deceive individuals and organizations. We will examine common types of scams like Romance scams, Check washing, Phishing emails, and more. Learn to equip yourself with strategies to identify red flags and protect yourself from becoming a victim.

Small Business Owners 101
Learn about starting a business, legal requirements, legal status vs. tax status, the different tax elections, LLCs, different types of registrations that you may need to have and where to get them, record keeping, and tracking income and expenses. Learn the difference between Hobby Income vs. Business Income and the tax implications of each. Explore the different types of taxes associated with Small Businesses and how your tax election greatly affects what you pay in taxes. Get yourself set up correctly so that you don't end up overpaying on your taxes, or end up with a huge tax bill.

Has all of the retirement terminology ever confused you? 401k, SEP, Simple IRA, 403B, 457, Traditional, Roth, HSA, Deferred Comp., OH MY! Learn what each of these are, where each is applicable, the advantages and disadvantages, and how they can fit into your retirement savings plan. Also learn how they can work together, and what the benefits are of having multiple options in retirement.

Are you on the board of a non-profit organization, or thinking about starting a non-profit? Then this is the class for you! Learn what it takes to set up a non-profit, the different types of non-profits, and the yearly filing requirements with the state of Wisconsin and the IRS. Understand the different types of licenses and registrations you will need, and learn safeguarding techniques to make sure your hard work stays with the organization!
